Terms & Conditions

Issued by the Leela’s Lunches entities listed in Schedule 1. Effective Date 1st October 2026

1. Introduction and Acceptance

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms“) are issued by the Leela’s Lunches entities listed in Schedule 1. In these Terms, “Leela’s Lunches”, “we“, “us” and “our” mean the entity that supplies the relevant service. Sections 1 to 20 apply to the food ordering and canteen services supplied to parents and legal guardians (“you“, “your“) of students at schools where we operate (“Partner Schools“). Those services are supplied by Leela’s Lunches Catering Services Co. L.L.C. (Trade Licence No. 1084043). Services supplied to nurseries are supplied on a business-to-business basis and are described in Schedule 2.

Each entity listed in Schedule 1 is a separate legal entity and is responsible only for the services that it supplies. No entity is liable for the acts or omissions of another.

By creating an account, placing an order, subscribing to a termly meal plan, or topping up a Leela’s card via the Spare app, you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of the relevant student, are at least 18 years of age, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

These Terms apply in addition to, and do not override, any agreement between Leela’s Lunches and the relevant Partner School governing our provision of catering services on their premises.

Where a Partner School has specific operational requirements relating to the provision of our services at that school, those requirements may apply to the operation of the service at that school, provided that nothing in such requirements or these Terms limits any mandatory rights you have under applicable UAE law.

2. Our Services

We provide food and beverage services to students at Partner Schools in three ways:

  1. Termly Subscription – a prepaid meal plan covering a full school term, described in Section 3.
  2. Online Ordering – day-by-day ordering via our app, described in Section 4.
  3. Canteen Service – an on-site cashless canteen operated by our staff at the school, described in Section 5.

Availability of each service depends on the arrangement in place at the relevant Partner School and may vary between schools.

Services supplied to nurseries are described in Schedule 2. They do not involve parent accounts, Leela’s cards or the Spare app.

We may temporarily suspend or modify a service where reasonably necessary for food safety, maintenance, school requirements, regulatory requirements, operational reasons, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

3. Termly Subscription Plan

The Termly Subscription is paid upfront for the full school term selected at the time of purchase.

3.1 Refunds and Cancellation

Subscription fees are not refundable during the first four (4) weeks of the relevant term, unless Leela’s Lunches expressly agrees otherwise.

If you cancel after the first four (4) weeks of the term, you may request a refund of the unused portion of your subscription, calculated by reference to the full school weeks remaining in the term after we receive your cancellation request, subject to applicable law.

In addition, and regardless of the four-week period, a refund or credit will be provided where:

  • required by applicable law;
  • Leela’s Lunches is unable to provide the subscribed service for a material part of the relevant period; or
  • the relevant Partner School ceases to offer the service, or the service is withdrawn by Leela’s Lunches.

Where a refund is approved, the value will first be credited to your Leela’s/Spare account balance. You may choose to use this credit against future orders, or request that it be returned to your original payment method, subject to applicable law and standard payment processing timeframes.

Where a child leaves the relevant Partner School during a subscription period, the treatment of any unused subscription balance will be determined in accordance with the applicable refund rules above and any specific arrangements applying at that Partner School.

3.2 Absence and School Activities

Individual student absences, school trips, sports events, examinations, activities or other occasions where a student does not collect or consume a meal do not entitle you to a refund or credit.

3.3 Daily Ordering Cut-Off

Meals under the Termly Subscription are prepared according to a set daily schedule. Any changes to a specific day’s meal submitted after 12:00 (midday) on the day before delivery cannot be guaranteed to be fulfilled for the next school day.

4. Online Ordering

Online orders are placed by parents/guardians individually, on a day-by-day basis, through our app.

4.1 Ordering Deadline

Orders must be placed no later than 10:00 on the day before the relevant delivery day. Orders cannot be placed after this deadline.

4.2 Cancellations and Credits

An Online order may only be cancelled and credited back to your Spare account balance if the cancellation request is received before 10:00 on the day before the relevant delivery day. Cancellation requests received after this time will not be eligible for a credit, except where required by applicable law or where Leela’s Lunches agrees otherwise.

4.3 Orders We Cannot Fulfil

If Leela’s Lunches is unable to fulfil an order for reasons within our reasonable control, we will attempt to provide an equivalent replacement meal. If an equivalent replacement meal cannot be delivered, we will provide an appropriate credit or refund for the affected meal or order.

Where an order cannot be fulfilled due to circumstances outside our reasonable control, we will take reasonable steps to notify the relevant Partner School and/or affected parents and, where appropriate, provide a credit or refund.

5. Canteen Service

At schools where we operate an on-site canteen, our staff serve food directly to students. The canteen operates on a fully cashless basis – we will not accept, and students cannot pay with cash.

Payment is made exclusively via the student’s Leela’s card, which is topped up in advance by the parent/guardian through the Spare app. Students without sufficient balance on their Leela’s card may not be able to purchase food at the canteen. It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to maintain a sufficient top-up balance.

5.1 Leela’s Card

Parents/guardians must take reasonable care of the student’s Leela’s card and should notify Leela’s Lunches or Spare promptly if the card is lost, stolen, damaged or believed to have been used without authorisation.

We may suspend or deactivate a card where we reasonably believe it has been lost, stolen, misused or compromised. Lost cards can be replaced by Leela’s Lunches at a charge of AED 20.

We will investigate reported unauthorised transactions reasonably and in accordance with applicable law. Parents/guardians should report suspected unauthorised transactions as soon as reasonably practicable.

5.2 Spare App

Use of the Spare app for top-ups is subject to Spare’s own separate terms and Information Security Policy, in addition to these Terms.

Leela’s Lunches is not responsible for the availability, operation or performance of the Spare platform or other third-party technology outside our reasonable control.

6. Pricing and Payment

All prices displayed are inclusive of UAE Value Added Tax (VAT) at the applicable rate, unless stated otherwise.

Payment for the Termly Subscription is collected in full at the time of subscribing. Payment for Online orders and canteen top-ups is collected via the Spare app at the time of order or top-up.

We reserve the right to amend our prices from time to time. Any price change will not affect an order or subscription already paid for.

We will take reasonable steps to ensure that prices displayed through our ordering channels are accurate. If an obvious pricing or system error results in an incorrect price being displayed, we reserve the right to correct the error and, where applicable, cancel the affected order, subject to applicable law.

Receipts and/or invoices will be made available in accordance with applicable UAE requirements.

7. Account Credit and Balances

Any funds paid by you and held as an available account balance or canteen balance remain subject to the applicable terms of the relevant payment platform and these Terms.

You may request the return of eligible unused funds when closing your account, subject to applicable law and the relevant payment platform’s procedures.

Where your family account covers more than one child at the same Partner School, the balance is a shared family balance and may be used for any of those children. A child at a different school needs a separate account balance, because the balance cannot be used at another school, whether or not that school is served by Leela’s Lunches. Account balances are otherwise not transferable to another person unless Leela’s Lunches expressly permits it.

Where a child leaves a Partner School, any remaining eligible balance will be dealt with in accordance with the applicable refund and account-credit provisions.

8. Menu and Substitutions

We aim to deliver the meals as advertised on our menu. However, due to ingredient availability, supply issues, seasonal availability, regulatory requirements, food-safety considerations or other operational circumstances, we reserve the right to substitute a menu item for a reasonably comparable alternative having regard to the nature of the meal, its ingredients and nutritional characteristics.

Where practicable, we will inform Partner Schools or parents of significant substitutions in advance.

Menu descriptions, photographs and nutritional information are provided to assist parents and students in making food choices. Ingredients, recipes and nutritional values may change from time to time where reasonably necessary.

9. Allergies and Dietary Requirements

It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to provide Leela’s Lunches with accurate and complete information regarding any allergies, intolerances, medical dietary requirements or other dietary requirements applicable to their child at the time of registration, and to keep this information up to date.

Where a relevant allergy or dietary requirement changes, the parent/guardian should notify Leela’s Lunches before placing further orders.

We will take reasonable steps to accommodate disclosed allergies and dietary requirements in accordance with our applicable food-safety and allergy-management procedures. These include preparing allergy-sensitive meals in a separate preparation area, apart from our main commercial kitchen, and taking steps to prevent cross-contact.

Parents/guardians should not rely solely on general menu descriptions when determining whether a meal is suitable for a child with a serious allergy or medical dietary requirement. Where necessary, parents should contact Leela’s Lunches for clarification before ordering.

If we reasonably consider that we cannot safely provide a particular meal to a student because of an allergy or dietary requirement, we may decline the order and provide an appropriate credit or refund.

10. Food Safety, Food Quality and Incidents

Leela’s Lunches prepares and provides food in accordance with applicable UAE food-safety requirements and its food-safety procedures.

If we identify, or reasonably suspect, a food-safety issue affecting a meal, ingredient or product, we may take any action reasonably necessary to protect students and comply with applicable requirements, including:

  • withdrawing or suspending a particular meal, ingredient or product;
  • substituting a menu item;
  • temporarily suspending a service;
  • notifying the relevant Partner School;
  • notifying affected parents where appropriate;
  • investigating the incident and retaining relevant food samples, records or other evidence;
  • cooperating with relevant authorities; and
  • providing appropriate refunds or credits where applicable.

Parents/guardians should notify Leela’s Lunches as soon as reasonably practicable if they believe that food supplied by us may have caused illness, an allergic reaction or another adverse reaction. Where possible, the parent/guardian should provide details of the date, meal, student and nature of the incident.

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights or remedies available to you under applicable UAE law.

11. School Closures and Events Outside Our Control

Leela’s Lunches may be unable to provide services where a Partner School is closed or access to the school is restricted, including because of government instruction, severe weather, public health requirements, emergency, security incident, fire, power or water interruption, transport disruption, supplier failure, food-safety incident or other circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Where reasonably practicable, we will notify affected Partner Schools and/or parents.

Where Leela’s Lunches has received payment for a service that it is unable to provide, we will determine whether a credit, replacement meal or refund is appropriate having regard to the circumstances and applicable law.

12. Personal Data and CCTV

We process personal data relating to your child and, where you hold an account, personal data relating to you, in accordance with our Data Protection Policy and applicable UAE data-protection legislation, including Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data (PDPL).

Our Data Protection Policy is available here.

12.1 What We Collect and Why

To provide the services described in these Terms, we may process:

  • your child’s name;
  • student ID;
  • class/year group;
  • order and transaction history;
  • account balance information;
  • dietary and allergy information where provided; and
  • your own name, contact details and payment/top-up information.

Certain limited student identification data may be obtained from the relevant Partner School’s own systems.

Depending on the nature of the data and the service being provided, Leela’s Lunches may process personal data as a data controller or as a data processor on behalf of a Partner School.

Where Leela’s Lunches acts as a processor on behalf of a Partner School, the relevant school remains responsible for determining the purposes and means of that processing and Leela’s Lunches will process the relevant data in accordance with the applicable school arrangements and applicable law.

Personal data will not be used for marketing purposes where we are acting solely as a processor on behalf of a Partner School.

12.2 Children’s Data

We recognise that information relating to children requires appropriate safeguards. Where consent is required under applicable law for the processing of a child’s personal data, we will obtain and rely upon the appropriate consent in accordance with our Data Protection Policy and registration process.

12.3 CCTV at Point-of-Sale

Point-of-sale areas at Partner Schools may be monitored by CCTV operated by Leela’s Lunches and/or the relevant Partner School.

Where Leela’s Lunches operates or controls the relevant CCTV, footage is used for purposes including transaction verification, security and resolution of payment or order disputes. Where a specific data processing agreement or similar arrangement between Leela’s Lunches and a Partner School restricts the permitted purposes, use or retention of CCTV footage, that restriction will apply in place of the general position described in this Section 12.3 for that school.

CCTV retention periods will be determined in accordance with applicable law, the relevant Partner School’s requirements and Leela’s Lunches’ applicable CCTV/privacy procedures. Footage may be retained for longer where reasonably necessary for an active investigation, legal claim, regulatory requirement or other lawful purpose.

Access to CCTV footage is restricted to authorised personnel and other persons where access is permitted or required by law.

Where CCTV is operated by a Partner School, that school’s own CCTV policy and privacy arrangements will apply. Leela’s Lunches does not operate CCTV at nursery sites.

12.4 Third-Party Processors

Payments and top-ups are processed via the Spare app, which has its own separate terms and Information Security Policy (available here).

We may use other service providers and processors where reasonably necessary to provide our services. Where required by applicable law, appropriate contractual and other safeguards will be applied.

12.5 Data Retention

Personal data will be retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, to comply with legal and regulatory requirements, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

12.6 Your Rights and Contact

You may contact us regarding your data-protection rights, including access, correction, deletion where applicable, objection, withdrawal of consent where consent is the applicable legal basis, or other queries about the processing of your personal data, at info@leelaslunches.com.

13. Use of Accounts and Technology

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and access details reasonably secure and must notify Leela’s Lunches or Spare if you reasonably suspect unauthorised access to your account.

You must not use the services for fraudulent, unlawful or abusive purposes or attempt to interfere with the operation of our ordering systems.

We will take reasonable steps to maintain the availability of our ordering services. However, we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of our website, app, payment systems or other technology.

We are not responsible for service interruptions caused solely by third-party technology providers, telecommunications networks, payment providers, Partner School systems or other circumstances outside our reasonable control.

14. Intellectual Property

All intellectual property rights in Leela’s Lunches’ branding, menus, recipes, photographs, website content, ordering materials and other materials provided as part of the services belong to Leela’s Lunches or its licensors, unless otherwise stated.

You may use such materials only for the purpose of accessing and using our services and must not reproduce, modify, distribute or commercially exploit them without our prior written permission.

15. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where such exclusion or limitation is not permitted under applicable UAE law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit any mandatory rights or remedies available to consumers under applicable UAE consumer-protection or other legislation.

Subject to the above, and to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our liability to you arising out of or in connection with an ordinary contractual or service claim under these Terms shall be limited to the amount paid by you for the specific order, service or subscription giving rise to the claim.

We shall not be liable for indirect or consequential loss to the extent such liability may lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable UAE law.

Nothing in this Section limits any liability that cannot legally be limited.

16. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account where we reasonably believe these Terms have been breached, including in cases of non-payment, misuse of the Leela’s card or app, fraudulent activity or unlawful use of the services.

We may also suspend an account or particular service where reasonably necessary to protect the safety or security of students, staff, our systems or our services.

Suspension or termination does not affect any accrued rights or obligations, including any refund otherwise due under these Terms.

You may close your account at any time by contacting us. Any remaining eligible account credit will be handled in accordance with Sections 3 and 7.

17. Complaints

If you have a complaint about our services, please contact us at info@leelaslunches.com. We aim to acknowledge complaints promptly and resolve them fairly.

Where your complaint concerns food safety, an allergy, illness or another potentially serious incident, please identify this clearly when contacting us so that it can be escalated to the appropriate team.

Nothing in these Terms affects your rights under applicable UAE consumer-protection law, including any right to escalate an unresolved complaint to the relevant UAE authority.

18. Changes to These Terms

We may amend these Terms from time to time. Where we make a material change, we will take reasonable steps to notify you in advance of the change taking effect.

Changes required to comply with applicable law, regulatory requirements, food-safety requirements or Partner School operational requirements may take effect immediately where reasonably necessary.

Changes will not retrospectively alter an order or subscription already paid for where doing so would adversely affect your contractual or statutory rights.

Continued use of our services after the effective date of amended Terms constitutes acceptance of the amended Terms, subject to any rights you may have under applicable law.

19. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates.

Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, subject to any mandatory jurisdictional or consumer-protection rights under applicable law.

20. General

20.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Data Protection Policy and any applicable service-specific terms communicated to you, govern the relationship between you and Leela’s Lunches in relation to your use of our services.

The operation of our services at a Partner School may also be subject to arrangements between Leela’s Lunches and that Partner School. Nothing in these Terms is intended to amend or override those arrangements.

The Spare app is operated by a third party and its own terms and policies apply to your use of the Spare platform.

Schedules 1 and 2 form part of these Terms.

20.2 Precedence

If there is any conflict between these Terms and a mandatory requirement of applicable UAE law, the mandatory legal requirement will prevail.

For matters relating specifically to the Spare platform, Spare’s applicable terms and policies will apply to the extent relevant to the use of that platform.

20.3 Notices and Communications

We may communicate with you using the contact details associated with your account, including by email, SMS, app notification or other electronic means.

You are responsible for keeping your contact details up to date.

Where we are required to notify you of a material service change, food-safety issue, recall or other important matter, we will use reasonable means to communicate the relevant information.

20.4 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

20.5 No Waiver

If we do not immediately enforce any provision of these Terms, this does not constitute a waiver of our right to enforce that provision at a later date.

20.6 Assignment

You may not transfer or assign your rights or obligations under these Terms to another person without our prior written consent.

We may transfer or assign our rights and obligations in connection with the services as part of a corporate restructuring, sale of the relevant business or other legitimate business transaction, provided that doing so does not unlawfully affect your rights.

Schedule 1 – Leela’s Lunches Entities

The following entities supply services under these Terms:

  • Schools (parents and guardians): LEELAS LUNCHES CATERING SERVICES CO. L.L.C., Trade Licence No. 1084043, Office 1802, Business Central Tower, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
  • Nurseries (Dubai): LEELAS LUNCHES FOOD STUFF TRADING L.L.C, Licence No. 745413, Office 1802, The One Tower, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
  • Nurseries (Abu Dhabi): LEELAS LUNCHES CATERING SERVICES – L.L.C., Commercial No. CN5197250, Abu Dhabi Island, East 22_2, Al Jazira Sports and Cultural Club building, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

These entities are registered for VAT as a VAT group under Tax Registration Number 100344100100003. The entity supplying a service is identified on the relevant invoice or order confirmation.

Schedule 2 – Nursery Services

1. Application

This Schedule applies to nurseries that purchase meal services from Leela’s Lunches Food Stuff Trading L.L.C (Dubai) or Leela’s Lunches Catering Services – L.L.C. (Abu Dhabi) (each a “Nursery Customer“). These services are supplied on a business-to-business basis and are invoiced to the Nursery Customer, not to parents or guardians. Parents and guardians of children at a nursery do not purchase from or pay Leela’s Lunches directly, and Sections 3 to 7 of these Terms, which concern parent accounts, orders, top-ups and Leela’s cards, do not apply to them. In this Schedule, “you” means the Nursery Customer.

2. Termly Subscription

Nursery services are supplied as the Termly Subscription described in Section 3. Online Ordering, the canteen service, Leela’s cards and the Spare app are not part of the nursery service.

Fees are not refundable during the first four (4) weeks of the relevant term, unless Leela’s Lunches expressly agrees otherwise. After that period, the refund rules in Section 3.1 apply, and any refund will be credited against future invoices or paid to you, as agreed.

3. Children’s Dietary and Attendance Information

You provide each child’s name, class or group, attendance and allergy or dietary information. You are responsible for ensuring that this information is accurate, complete and kept up to date. We prepare meals in accordance with our allergy-management procedures on the basis of the information you provide, and we are not able to verify it.

4. Personal Data

In supplying nursery services, Leela’s Lunches processes children’s names, class or group, attendance and allergy or dietary information as a processor on your behalf. We process this data only as you provide it and instruct us, and only to supply the services. It is not used for marketing and is not shared between Leela’s Lunches entities. Parents and guardians with questions about this data should contact their nursery in the first instance.

5. Other Terms

Sections 8, 10, 11, 14 to 20 apply to nursery services with the necessary changes. If there is any conflict between these Terms and a written agreement between Leela’s Lunches and a Nursery Customer, the written agreement prevails.
